Begin Your Renewal

Restore your body’s innate harmony through gentle, effective care that puts your comfort first.

Advanced Techniques for Tailored Recovery

Traditional acupuncture has been trusted for centuries to help regulate the nervous system and relieve pain, but modern advancements allow us to offer even more precise care. At 4 Elements, we blend time-tested meridian therapy with contemporary clinical tools. By expanding our services to include advanced options like Laser and Electro-Acupuncture, we can target deep tissues, accelerate cell repair, and provide highly customized treatments for chronic pain, systemic issues, and injury rehabilitation.

We recognize that every person responds differently to treatment. Our Registered Acupuncturist doesn't just insert needles; they select the exact approach and specialized modality that works best for your condition and your comfort level. From completely needle-free laser options to targeted micro-current stimulation, we utilize a diverse toolkit to reduce your symptoms safely and effectively, ensuring your path to health is a smooth and stress-free experience.

Our Specialized Acupuncture Modalities

To give you a better idea of how we care for your body, here are the core advanced techniques and therapeutic tools our practitioners bring into your sessions:

Electro-Acupuncture: By attaching a gentle, low-frequency micro-current to traditional needles, we can provide continuous, rhythmic stimulation to deep muscle groups. This is incredibly effective for relaxing stubborn spasms, reducing severe nerve pain, and speeding up tissue healing.

Cold Laser Acupuncture: A completely non-invasive, needle-free alternative. We use low-intensity light beams to stimulate target points. It is perfect for children, anyone nervous about needles, or highly sensitive, acutely inflamed areas like arthritic joints.

Bridging Modern Science and Traditional Healing

Many people wonder how these diverse tools work together during a single visit. When you come to 4 Elements, we look at the big picture. We don’t just treat where it hurts; we use our advanced modalities to address the root cause of physical and systemic imbalances. For instance, combining the deep nerve-calming properties of Electro-Acupuncture with the soft-tissue release of Gua Sha allows us to treat a chronic injury from multiple physiological angles at once.

This comprehensive approach means your body receives a highly efficient, multi-layered treatment within a single appointment. Because these tools work in tandem to reduce inflammation and enhance blood flow, our clients often experience faster recovery times and longer-lasting relief between their clinic visits.

What Our Clients Are Saying

What to Expect From Your Session

How does acupuncture actually work?

It stimulates the sensory nerves under the skin and in the muscles. This results in the body producing natural substances, such as pain-relieving endorphins, while also signaling the brain to regulate the autonomic nervous system.

Is the treatment safe?

Yes, acupuncture is incredibly safe when performed by a licensed professional. We use only single-use, sterile, disposable needles that are fine and flexible, ensuring a hygienic and comfortable experience.

How will I feel after my appointment?

Most people feel deeply relaxed or even slightly "floaty" immediately after a session. While some feel a burst of energy, others find they have the best night's sleep they’ve had in weeks.

Do I need to do anything to prepare?

Please complete your intake form before your appointment and provide as much detail as possible about your health concerns, symptoms and medications. Wear loose, comfortable clothing, arrive well hydrated and have a light snack an hour or two beforehand. Your first acupuncture visit includes an initial consultation with Dr. Chris, followed by treatment when appropriate.

What can I expect during my first acupuncture appointment?

Your path to wellness starts with being truly heard. That’s where 4 Elements stands out! Your first visit is a dedicated, multi-step session where we sit down to understand your unique health concerns, establish your long-term goals, and provide a full, deeply relaxing acupuncture treatment tailored specifically to what your body needs right now.

Meet Our Acupuncturist

Christopher Middleton, Doctor of Acupuncture

Hello! My name is Chris, and (surprise!) I’m an acupuncturist. I love cats, dogs, food, sports, the mountains, and helping people feel better and live well. I’ve volunteered for various local animal rescues and over the years I have served as a foster for both cats and dogs. Ever since I was a child, I knew I wanted to work in healthcare.

MY STORY: I initially discovered acupuncture several years ago after I was in a car accident and sustained whiplash. A year after the accident I was still suffering headaches and neck pain. It was then that I was asked, “why don’t you try acupuncture?” I distinctly recall responding “because I hate needles!” Needless to say, I was convinced to try it anyway. And it worked! The headaches stopped. I also discovered that acupuncture needles are tiny and, unlike the needles I’d previously experienced, you barely feel them. I initially studied at NAIT to become an MRI Technologist, but after my car accident and subsequent experience with acupuncture, I ended up enrolling in the acupuncture program at MacEwan University and I’ve been a practicing acupuncturist ever since.

MY FOCUS: My initial focus and passion in acupuncture was for sports medicine and orthopedic acupuncture, treating injuries and pain of all sorts. However, because of personal experience with fertility issues, my passion for treating men’s and women’s health issues, specifically infertility, has grown over the years. But I love to help people no matter what reason they have decided to seek out acupuncture.

MY APPROACH: I blend classical techniques that have stood the test of time with modern cutting-edge techniques and technologies scientifically shown to enhance healing. This means I may combine TCM Acupuncture or Meridian-based acupuncture with modern motor point and trigger point needling. I utilize a wide array of modalities including electro-acupuncture, laser acupuncture (coming soon!), cupping, Gua Sha, and herbs. Because everyone is different, our goal is to find the right combination of techniques for each unique patient so as to provide the quickest recovery in the fewest treatments possible.
